Yes. The IRS will continue to Garnish your wages. The IRS will leave you enough money to pay for your child support and your basic needs. So watch out. Don't think you can dodge a Wage Garnishment just because you owe child support.

Is child support considered earned income?

No. For purposes of calculating the earned income credit, the child support you receive is not considered income.  

Are child support payments considered taxable income?

No. Child support payments are not considered taxable income. This is because income is used to take care of your children. So be careful! Don't include child support payments received when you total your gross income on your tax returns.  

If you pay child support, are you allowed to deduct anything on your taxes or claim the child as an exemption?

You may be able to claim the child as a dependent. But nothing can be deducted for the child support payments.  Whoever the child lives with for most of the year is the custodial parent. If you pay child support, the only way to claim the child as an exemption, is to have the custodial parent sign Form 8332 G  "Release of Claim to Exemption for Child of Divorced of Separated Parents."

 Keeping up: The IRS will not stop you from making child support payments. But don't think you can escape your debt easily. If you are having trouble solving your tax debt, look up possible solutions and handle it quickly! It'll be hard to get the IRS off your back, but life will be so much easier when child support is the only big payment you have to worry about.

Kids Halloween Costumes - Transformers Optimus Prime Costumes

Transformers Optimus Prime costumes will be in heavy demand this Halloween. Each Summer we carefully review the movies that have been released in the theatres and keep tabs on those that will release in September/October. Why? As usual, the most popular costumes of the Halloween season follow the trends set by the box office hits at the movies, and Optimus Prime costumes are no exception to this rule of thumb.

While looking for the best Transformers Optimus Prime costumes, I found that there are two different costume designs offered this year. The first Transformer Optimus Prime costume is focused on younger boys with its animated appearance and soft design. The second is more of a movie-quality costume and looks to be focused towards middle aged boys with its red and blue jumpsuit, wearable arm canon, and helmet.

If you child is leaning towards this costume, you will probably want to start looking now because this hot itme will probably sell out before October. As with any child's Halloween costume, it's probably a good idea to adhere some reflective tape on either one of these costumes to keep your little robot safe while trick or treating or playing outside in the dark.

Arena Football League calls timeout; amateur reaction

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) - December 15th, 2008 - The Arena Football League will suspend operations for the 2009 season, and will try to resume play as soon as is financially feasible. Grand Rapids Rampage officials confirmed at a mid-afternoon press confernece earlier reports the league would suspend play. In a statement, Rampage owner Dan DeVos said, "We had strong support from franchise owners as we set a plan in place to suspend the 2009 season & spend time to reconfigure the economic structure of the league. It is the best strategy to work toward long-term financial stability, and it also makes sense in the current economy." Ramage GM Scott Woodruff will continue to manage the opearations of the franchise. The team plans to refund all 1800 season tickets sold and refund their pre-paid corporate sponsors. The coaching contracts will remain intact. Some Rampage employees will be laid off, while others will transition over to the Grand Rapids Griffins. The players' fate and finances will be left to the league and players union to determine. The Rampage began play in 1997, and won the Arena Bowl in 2001. Grand Rapids Rampage kicker Brian Gowins, who is also a small business owner, reacts to the news of the suspended season. He says he and his family depend on the league for insurance. His wife is expecting another child soon.
